[comp.windows.ms.programmer] Supplement: Re: What windows programs do not crash...

pcb@cacs.usl.edu (Peter C. Bahrs) (02/14/91)

I posted the previous comments and got a lot of email basically saying
...I have the same WIERD problems...

Just as a supplement, I have been using various versions of these programs
and the windows environment for 4+ years. Yes, I have done things like
strip the autoexec.bat and config.sys, reformat, check for viruses....
I am also considering IBM, Compaq, and Northgate as pretty stable
hardware environments.

I like the win3 approach, we use 5 machines a lot:, mostly SDK development,
graphics, word processing and printing, but I am annoyed with the crashes.
I can't always save everything before I do anything. !~!

I think win3 is still in its infancy. They (vendors) should have kept their
products longer in testing rather than have users debug it. This situation,
although around for a while, has increased drastically with win3's success.

In spite of the bandwagon, hipe, and et. al. software users should have more
rights and be given more information wrt software...instead of the common
'...oh, we have a new "debugged" release coming out in two months, just
send another $150.00 and get it...'
This appears to be a great pass the buck from technical support and is very
common with numerous win3 application vendors and I am sick of it.
