[net.test] MONITOR: As if you couldn't guess this one...

miker@cord.UUCP (Mike Roberson) (08/28/86)

i caught the: \(br\|line-eater\|\(br\l'|0\(rn'\l'|0\(ul'!

I am looking for a (tube type, NOT projection) color monitor/tv.
I have read a months worth of net.video and have yet to see much response
to the queries about MONITORs. Now is a good time to respond, what with
labor day sales coming about and all. It would be of great help to many
people if you (collectively) could supply the following:

	Category	Example

	Make NAD
	Model MR20
	Price 750	(american dollars)
Purchase Date	1986	plus model year if not same, ie: 1986(1985)
	Problems	Yes/No

for your ease, you should post it on one line, as:

	Make	Model	Price	Date Problems
	NAD	MR20	750	1986(1983)	Yes

(use tabs or colons or slashes; whatever is easiest for you)

Optionally also supply the following:

	Category	Example

Features	VHF In; UHF In; Cable In; VCR I/O; Aux I/O
	Recommend	Buy/Don't Buy this MONITOR
	Purchase Place	HiEndVideoLtd; Piscataway, NJ
	Service not-yet/none/poor/fair/good/excellent
	Worth Price	1000	(american dollars)

(The above example is just that, i have no experience with the NADMR20

Then, if possible, expand on any problems, THIS IS WHAT REALLY CONCERNS ME.
Also, expand further on just exactly what channels/frequencies your cable-
ready MONITOR gets.

Features i want:

Video: RF in: VHF antenna,VHF converter,VHF Aux (game),UHF
RF out: VHF converter (for VCR)
			Line level in: Video1, Video2
Line level out: monitor (for VCR)
RGB In (do i really need this?$?)
			built-in VHF/UHF tuner
mid-, super-, hyper-, and ultra band channels,
			ie: cable ready

Audio: stereo/SAP decoder off RF (as well as Line level?)
			external speakers
Line level in: for Video1, for Video2
fixed Line level out: for monitor (for VCR)
variable Line level out: for monitor (for VCR)

General:	full (read all) function remote
			NO front panel I/O
on-screen info would be nice, but i WOULD like at
least an LED channel indicator (so i don't have to
			guess)

Any other information you think that might help is more than welcome,
ie: what mail-order places to go to/stay away from/don't mail-order,
use VCRZ with MONITORX, etc...

If you know of such a list that already exists, please inform me.

If you are going to flame/criticize me, at least include a recommendation.

PS: I am currently looking at the NEDMR20.
