Thanks to everyone who responded. Here's a summary of what I've found. All these packages work with Windows. By the way, I mentioned db_VISTA III, but that is a "read-only" SQL (you can't do updates). If you want to do real development, you pay $700 plus they'll charge a royalty for each copy of your application that you sell. As far as I'm concerned, until they get the "write" part of their SQL working, they don't even qualify as an SQL product. *** Borland's Paradox Engine 2.0 can be queried with SQL with a separate package that you buy from Borland. For a limited time, Paradox Engine sells for $100, not including the SQL Link that enables SQL queries of the Paradox database. *** Ocelot SQL for Windows. $200, but if you want to develop software with it, you need to pay an additional $500 (royalty fee or something). Total cost is $700 with no additional royalties. Ocelot Computer Services Incorporated #1502 10025 - 106 Street Edmonton, Alberta T5J 1G7 CANADA *** Gupta's SQL server package is supposed to be expensive but worth it. *** Novell. NetWare SQL is the distributed version. NetWare XQL (Xtrieve Querey Language) is the stand alone. Windows support has been announced but not verified. *** ADI Software in Karlsruhe will release SQL for Windows in June; the price will be about $350.
