[comp.windows.ms.programmer] 32-bit Compilers and Windows 3.0

wcb@gradient.gradient.com (Bill Blackwell) (05/01/91)

I am considering buying a 32-bit compiler for porting a large
Unix application to DOS/Windows 3.0. Does anyone have experience
using the following (or any other) 32-bit compilers? Can you
tell me how satisfied you are with their performance, debugging support,
utilities, etc? :

	Metaware High C
	Watcom C
	Zortech C++
	Jenson & Partners

Also, has anyone attempted to access Windows or other 16-bit libraries
from a 32-bit program built with any of these compilers? We have
read the excellent MSJ March '91 article by Thomas Sherlock and understand
his basic approach, but would be interested in anyone else's experience
and/or tips as well.

Thanks for any help.
