[comp.windows.ms.programmer] Borland C++ Bugs???

aaron@jessica.Stanford.EDU (Aaron Wallace) (05/01/91)

Hi!
Strictly speaking, this isn't a Windows programming problem, but it does
make Windows programming a bit of a problem...

1) Does anyone else have the problem with clicking in a region in the editor
after using the scroll bar and having the screen (but not the cursor) jump
to somewhere else? My fix is to hit space backspace, but I'm wondering if I
need a better mouse driver.

2) Is it a "feature" or a bug that when you copy/cut something, you have to
select it in the clipboard before being allowed to paste it? Or is this some-
thing I can configure on my own (I read TFM, but didn't get too far w/it).

Thanks in advance!

I don't know if this is related to your problem, but what I have had happen
is to be scrolling down a file by clicking on the scrollbar, click once and have
the editor scroll me all the way to the bottom or top of the file. This happens
regularly and is a distinct pain in the neck.

C) Something you can configure on your own.

The option you want is under Options/Environment/Editor and the specific
option is [ ] Persistent Blocks. Currently you have it turned off.

This is one solution, but the basic problem is that this is a bug in
BC++ (suprised?). If you don't want persistent blocks (which I don't),
clicking that option on and then turning it off again makes copy/cut/paste
work correctly. You have to do this each time you start up BC++ :-(.
