I am trying to gather some facts on amateur operation in order to generate comments regarding the NOI/NPRM on expanding the phone bands. I feel that band occupancy should be determined, in part, by required bandwidth for the modes used. However one should also consider how many operators use which modes. I would appreciate you hams sending me the following info on HF operation: 1) Which modes do you operate? 2) What percentage of time is used for each mode? 3) What power level do you use for each mode? 4) How much time do you spend just working DX only (actively looking for just DX, no stateside stuff)? 5) If you work CW, is your receiver equipped with a sharper filter than the typical 2.5 kHz phone filter? What is your CW filter bandwidth? 6) Generally what, if any, changes would you like to see on our HF bands? Also, I am unable to locate the details of the recent Canadian 40 meter phone band expansion. Can anyone help me there??? Please mail your comments to: we13!rjr thanx Bob K9EUI
