I recently saw a file which contained some .RLE files, so that you could change the default Windows startup screen. The author states that while he doesn't know exactly what's going on, apparently Windows "compiles" an ????LOGO.RLE file into one of the runtime .EXEs, which is then showed as the startup screen, when you run SETUP.EXE. I used the Whitewater Resource Toolkit on c:\windows\system\user.exe, and WRT came out with a category it called "BITNAP" which it couldn't edit. Is this the .RLE file? Is there any way to directly swap them, without going through SETUP over and over again? 888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888 8 David Shapiro 8 The Gooey (GUI) BBS 8 8 bigd@dorsai.com 8 212-876-5885 9600 CSP 8 8 212-876-5885 9600 CSP (data) 8 Home of GUI-Net (tm) 8 8 R/O Routable at ->GOOEY on: 8 First NYC BBS with CSP 8 8 RIME (RelayNet), Intelec, MIDILink, GUI-Net 8Home of the GUI BBS list8 8 InterZone!, V-Net, TR'OL Works, NYNet 8 Since 12/90 8 888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

Hello David! In a msg of <24 May 91>, David Shapiro writes to All: DS> I recently saw a file which contained some .RLE files, so that you DS> could change the default Windows startup screen. This is completely off-topic in the WINDOWS.PROG programming area (you should hav asked this in a user area) but the program ELANA.EXE does the job for you. Send mail to my interet adres on how to get it. jeroen - fthsmuld@rulgl.leidenuniv.nl - fthsmuld@hlerul52.bitnet
