[comp.windows.ms.programmer] OV in a world of its own?

I have been using Borlands Object Vision with a view to using this for an
application. After spending some time designing a screen and my logic trees
I hit a complete stumbling block. How do you communicate with the world outside
Object Vision?

Object Vision has read only DDE links available. I can't write data to other
applications, I can't call other programs. This seems to be a significant
failing in an otherwise interesting product.

The $99 cost seemed a bargain, but is this just a trap to get people using this
product and then forking out upgrade monies to get a version that has some
communication ability?

On that note, HAS anyone heard of a new version in the pipeline?

For now I think I'll have to move to TPW or BC. Are there any database toolkits
available for either of these compilers?

Borland sells the Paradox toolbox for TPW, BC++, etc..
