[comp.windows.ms.programmer] Windows and Desqview

chryses@xurilka.UUCP (Phong Co) (06/12/91)

I seem to remember reading some articles about using QEMM with
Windows, but unfortunately that was a long time ago. I've got a copy
of Desqview 386. What can I use to improve Windows performance? I'm
currently using the HIMEM/SMARTDRV combination.

Thanks.

Phong.

QEMM 5.1 and above supports winmdows. If you use said versions you do not need
himem.sys. In fact I found using it with QEMM takes leaves me with less
conventional memory than QEMM alone. MFT the Quarterdeck memory utility
will say A20 is not enabled, but you will be able to use extended memory
and you will also be able to use smartdrv.sys in extended memory.
Question for someone else does having more conventional memory speedup
or otherwise help Windows in 386 enhanced mode?
