[comp.windows.ms.programmer] window from child window

I am having trouble creating a window *from* a child window.  I am just
trying to create a normal window, overlapped style, but this is happening
from a child window.  I have stripped my parameters down to the bare
minimum, but the call to CreateWindow always returns null.  ANy advice??
