A kind friend, Jeff Zurschmeide, writes back: Harry, this is incorrect.....the bill is to override the HHS (Health & Human Services - a misnamed federal entity) ruling that clinics receiving gov't funds cannot talk about abortion - known as a "gag rule". The bill is to allow clinics to continue to provide abortion referrals. The constitutionality was challenged in the Supreme Court last month in the Rust vs. Sullivan case, and the court said the gov't could attach conditions when it gives money. The Congress is seeking to overturn the original rule put out by HHS. To which I responded: Thanks Jeff, There's a good reason that I've never posted anything like this before. I don't follow the issues carefully and then get the facts messed up. I got this info from a friend and I assumed that I understood it and that it was correct. I blew it. P.S.
