I understand that the CDTV, uses some standard CD-ROM format, for storing data. Wouldn't this mean that if there were seperate controller programs for different machine formats, then the same CD could be used with a Mac or a PC ? Not only would this slash production costs, but it would also guarentee any potential software publisher that their product would sell on at least one of these machines. It would also guarentee CBM increased sales because everyone would soon realise how much cheaper it is to use a CDTV than a Mac or PC with CD-ROM drive, and still be able to run the same applications. I still think the idea of supplying DCTV with CDTV is a great one.... the quantity/quality/speed of that type of system for things like 'full motion video' (whatever that is :-) would be a BIG plus... although I have yet to see DCTV anims made from successive digitized video frames.... How well does DCTV do with such a task? -Mike-

For some apps, at least. CBM was supposedly showing off (or at
least talking about) an output-only DCTV adapter which would be used
to help display Kodak Photo-CD still pictures on CDTV players.
Rumors are that this addon would cost about $50. Which if true, or even
close, would mean to me that regular Amiga owners might like one too :-).

CDTV as a PC or Mac peripheral, yuck. This sounds like that known Toaster-in-a-box with a secretly built-in A2000. But now with a CDTV.
