Hello folks, I am running OpenWindows 2.0 on a Sparcstation 1+ with SunOS 4.0.3. My problem is that I have a monochrome monitor and I can't invert the video (regular black-on-white is too bright - gives me headaches) like "sunview -i" does. I have read as many man pages as I can find. Here is what I have tried: shelltool -Wf 255 255 255 -Wb 0 0 0 shelltool -fg White -bg Black I have also looked at xsetroot(1), xset(1) (which I didn't understand), X(1), xview(1), olwm(1), and xterm(1). I was able to get an xterm window up inverted but it doesn't have all the fancy features that the regular windows have. I also tried adding the "WindowColor" option to my .Xdefaults file. My problem is I don't understand the OW concepts very well - it's very complicated compared to sunview! If I am making some bonehead error I will very gracefully accept your correction. Please E-mail unless you think it would interest the general public. I am unfamiliar with the net (this is my first post) so I may not be saying this right, but after about the 17th of December, wherever you see "cs5315ba" please replace it with "persons" because my class account is going away, but my permanent account won't be set up until then. Thanks very much! Mike Persons

In OpenWindows 2.0 there is a file 'ReleaseNotes' that states that a bug prevents reverse video. Black-on-white gives me headaches too. -- Kirk Kandt
