[comp.windows.open-look] Changing OpenWindow icons

geg@beep.mlb.semi.harris.com (Greg Garland) (12/13/90)

Is there a way to change the icons used by the OpenWindow clients to
something similar to the icons used by the MIT server and twm, i.e.,
a single skinny box containing the icon name? I've mananged to set
my machine up so that I can run the OW tools under Xsun and twm without
a lot of silly font and ld.so warnings coming up, but the icons still
take up too much space and the icon name doesn't fit for many of my
applications.

Thanks.

That is dependent upon the Window Manager. The olwm that comes with
OpenWindows doesn't provide a way to do this. Another Open Look window
manager might though. Your best possibility is Solbourne's swm, but
I'm
not sure. I say that, because Tom LaStrange (of twm fame) wrote it.
Perhaps
he can answer that?
