It turns out that there is no way to specify the font of the control areas, like buttons and menus, separately from the font for the main text areas. This would be a good feature to add to a fuuture version of xview. Meanwhile, the best way to make the font bigger in applications like mailtool, filemgr, and so forth is to use the -scale option. This produces a more pleasing result than specifying a font via the -font option -- -scale makes the larger fonts "fit" into the buttons and menus better.
