I've been coding a small application using the xview library included with SunOS 4.1.1. My intent is to have this run in any X11r4 setting. I am using volume VII (revised) as a reference. I have had a few questions/problems that I assume others have handled (successfully) before. Any and all answers are greatly appreciated: 1) Menu buttons are annotated with a triangle pointing to the pop-up menu. Vol VII indicates that by specifying "PANEL_LAYOUT PANEL_VERTICAL" that the menu will be below the button. It presists in being to the right. What I am doing wrong (or is this a "feature")? 2) Though I have installed a CANVAS_RESIZE_PROC in my canvas and set CANVAS_RETAINED (and WIN_RETAINED) to FALSE, I only get callbacks when the frame (and subsequently the canvas) is increased in size. AUTO SHRINK and CLEAR are false, though I've tried all the other permutations. Shouldn't I be getting callbacks in both increasing AND decreasing sizes? 3) It seems as though there must be a more complete and/or up-to-date xview manual. I am using Vol VII (revised and updated for revision 2) and there are missing pieces and inconsistances between the text, the appendices as well as the actual functioning.
