I would like to be able to switch from running the Xnews Server and running the X11/MIT Server on the same machine. The current configuration is as follows; We have installed everything from the OpenWindows 2.0 CD in their default locations /usr/openwin. We have compiled the entire MIT tape-1 and all 18 patches in the path /local/R4/mit, and have installed all binaries in /local/bin/X11, includes in /local/include/X11, ... We try to start the server off in an Xstart file by calling xinit like this xinit -- /local/bin/X11/Xsun :0 -fp /local/R4/mit/fonts/bdf/75dpi,/local/R4/mit/fonts/bdf/misc,/local/R4/mit/fonts/bdf/100dpi -co /local/R4/mit/rgb -fn fixed we get an error about /local/R4/mit/rgb, but continue spawning several xterms, oclock, and the window manager the window manager comes up, the clients are there, but we have the X cursor frozen in the middle of the screen? The xinit we use is from the MIT release and it is in /local/bin/X11. All the paths seem to point to the correct binaries and fonts. We have probably overlooked something simple, can anyone shed some light as to what we have forgotten or done wrong?
