[comp.windows.open-look] SUMMARY: Setting Emacs editor in OW filemgr

ramsey@sundance.llnl.gov (Susanne Ramsey) (06/29/91)

Problem summary - emacs ends up thinking it is in the same directory in which
the filemgr was started.. Since I was using sh PWD was
                  not updated..

Thanks to the following folks for their replys:

Here's the summary of answers that I found to work on MY system..

First start up your file manager - go into props - select tool properties -

there you will get a menu - on the line DEFAULT DOCUMENT EDITOR - click "Other:"
and place either of the following commands in there -

        csh -cf /usr/local/bin/emacs $FILE

        shelltool csh -c "sleep3;emacs $FILE"

for command #1 do a 'which emacs' and make sure you are pointing to the
right directory for the emacs you use..

The first command is cleaner - but both will work..

Then chick on apply and you are done. You can now double-click on a file
within filemgr and have it come up in the emacs editor.,

Ta Da.... So simple and yet it gave me such a headache --- ;-0

thanks again
Susanne Ramsey
