[comp.sys.amiga.unix] YP on A3000UX???

rodney@solar.card.inpu.oz.au (Rodney Campbell) (03/05/91)

I have just taken delivery of an A3000UX. It was already set up after
having it's unix installed. I went about trying to hack together some
stuff in the /etc files to set things like the node and domain name before
I found the sysadm utility. Now some of the functions of this utility do
not seem to work - Like mounting nfs file systems (I can do it by hand but
I don't know where to place the specifications to get the machine to mount
the NFS partitions automatically at boot up - I am used to using the
/etc/fstab file but the Amy seems to use vfstab with a different
format....).
We have here a network of SPARC based machines at SunOS 4.0.3 and 4.1.1
levels and I would like to connect the Amy to this network. We use YP and
have a number of filesystems mounted from the File Server machine onto all
other hosts. Now can any kind soul tell me how to set up the NFS mounts
properly and then tell me what to do about YP. I have found the YP
binaries ypbind, etc on the system but have not found a place to put them.
The /etc/rc and /etc/rc.local files are either empty or do not exist (I am
not used to SysVR4 so I am dumbfounded as to what to do - There is no
mention of NFS or YP in the accompanying manuals.).
Please can someone tell me what to do to set up NFS mounts easily and what
to do to get all the YP services up and running. The file server on our
system is the YP master and I want the Amy to be a YP client.
       Thanks in advance....
