[net.ham-radio] CONTESTS THIS WEEKEND

wheatley (10/12/82)

At least two good DX contests this weekend (3 if you are into RTTY)
and heres the scoop:

WA-Y2 Contest, from 1500Z Oct. 16 until 1500Z Oct. 17. Phone and cw,
10 to 80 meters. Exchange signal report and serial number, starting
with 001. The Y2 station will send signal report and a 2 digit number
indicating "kreiskenner" (not sure if this is equivalent to a county
or what). The object here is to work as many German Democratic Republic
stations (Y2xxxxx to Y9xxxxx) as possible. These operators
are usually pretty big into contesting.

21 MHz CW Contest, from 0700Z to 1900Z Oct. 17. The idea is to work as
many Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) members as possible in the British
Isles. Exchange RST and serial number (beginning with 001). I heard a lot
of British stations on last weekend in the SSB contest, including all of
the DXCC countries from Great Britain.

RTTY Sweepstakes, 0200Z Oct. 16 till 0200Z Oct. 18. Exchange signal report,
UTC time, and CARTG (Canadian Amateur Radio Teletype Group) zone.
Use all bands 80 to 10 meters.

GOOD LUCK!!
