eric@AI.MIT.EDU (Eric Hanchrow) (01/26/91)
I just installed 18.56, and it works nicely. But -- my status line,
which used to indicate the date, time, disk usage, and number of
active processes, now only shows the date and time. I tried making
the `env' program setgid, but then when I try to start a shell, I get
a message `csh: Permission denied Process shell exited abnormally with
code 1' in the *shell* buffer. When I try to start a shell when I'm
logged in as root, emacs simply hangs trying to start the shell.
So my choice seems to be -- have `env' setgid, and not be able to use
shell-mode, or have `env' normal (755), and not be able to see the
load info on the status line. Am I missing something obvious?
Thanks.
