[net.ham-radio] Hypocracy in March QST -- short note

gnu (03/08/83)

In the same issue where the ARRL rages against the FCC's proposal to
create a code-free license (but fails to give any reasons against it,
besides "We don't like it."), there's also a little box on page 57
inviting lawyers who are also hams to help the ARRL "stem the tide of
overly restrictive regulations on Amateur Radio". Also pg. 79's Club
Corner bemoans the lack of young people in ham radio, claiming that they
seem more interested in computers and video games, then goes on to present
recruiting proposals designed to wean the kiddies away to ham radio
instead. It might be easier if you could buy a ham radio and play with
it -- like a computer or video game -- instead of studying and passing
tests first, but somehow this point is missed.
