_M_o_z_a_m_b_i_q_u_e_. Jack, ON6BC/C9, has appeared from Mozambique as
of one week ago and plans to stay through the end of next
week. Jack has been worked on 10 through 40 meters, both
phone and cw. The DXCC status is yet unconfirmed as ham
radio has been disallowed in Mozambique for some years.
_I_n_f_o_r_m_a_l__D_X__N_e_t_. An informal roundtable group has assembled
daily at 1700Z on 21335 kHz. Although this is not strictly
a DX net, this week there have been appearances by 5X, 3X,
7Q7, TL8, and ZD7, 8, and 9.
_E_a_s_t_e_r__I_s_l_a_n_d_. A new operator, Hector, CE00ERY, has been
licensed and stationed on Easter Island. Look around 0330Z
on 20 meter ssb. His QSL manager is WB6WOD.
_T_u_r_k_s__a_n_d__C_a_i_c_o_s_. VP5FUX has been active for the ARRL
contest and will be active during the 160 meter contest this
weekend. QSL Fred via his home call, K9VV. Many other VP5s
have been active recently, some plan to stay for the 160
contest also.
_S_t_.__V_i_n_c_e_n_t_. J87LTA, operated by K4LTA, and others is now
active on all bands, 160 through 10 meters. The group plans
to move to Antigua next week, signing V2AXA.
_C_e_n_t_r_a_l__A_f_r_i_c_a_n__R_e_p_u_b_l_i_c_. TL8DC appears regularly
Wednesdays at 1500Z around 28600 kHz.
_1_6_0__C_o_n_t_e_s_t_. Don't forget the CQWW 160 Meter Phone Contest,
from 2200Z February 25 to 1600Z February 27.
_U_g_a_n_d_a_. Terry, 5X5FS, has been suddenly active after an
absence of many years. Terry signs EI9G in his home country
and plans to be active in Uganda for at least a few more
weeks. QSL via his home callsign.
_K_e_n_y_a_. Nana, JI1VLV, and a small Japanese group are
activating 5Z4NN. This station has been worked on 80
through 10 meters, specifically concentrating on cw. QSL
this call via JI1VLV.
_M_a_d_a_g_a_s_c_a_r_. Alain, 5R8AL, is back on the air from
Madagascar. Look for him around 1730Z around 21330 kHz.
_F_B_8_. Activity has been at an all time high from FB8W, X,
and Z. However, FB8XAB departed on schedule last week for
France. Alain, FB8ZQ, is heard daily on 20 meter cw around
0100 until 0145Z.
_S_t_.__P_e_t_e_r__a_n_d__S_t_.__P_a_u_l__R_o_c_k_s_. A German group is scheduled
to depart for St. Peter/St. Paul around March 5. They are
planning a five or six day operation. More details next
week.
_S_v_a_l_b_a_r_d_. JW5AA, operated by Jerry, LA5VAA, is currently
active from Bear Island. Although Jerry has been worked and
heard on all bands, he prefers 15 meter ssb. QSL via LA4YM.
_A_n_g_u_i_l_l_a_. The group signing VP2E in last week's contest is
still active on most bands with various callsigns. Each
callsign has a separate QSL manager.
_B_a_h_a_m_a_s_. Gary, K00GVB/C6A, has arrived in the Bahamas for
the 160 meter contest this weekend and has been heard
testing antennas.
_T_r_i_n_d_a_d_e_. A PY1 station from Brazil is presently active
signing /PY00 from Trindade. Although the callsign is
unknown, this station has been reported on several occasions
over the last few days. It is not known how long this
activity will continue.
_A_n_t_a_r_c_t_i_c_a_. The Federal German South Polar Station DP00LEX
