I am a user of g++ 1.36.1 and am trying to get information to decide whether to get the latest sources for the next phase of my project. I live basically in the PC world and am not in good touch with what goes on with FSF software. I don't have Internet access; last time I bought the C beta tape from you and used a public access UNIX system to download to my machine. I want to upgrade if there is a reasonably solid g++ that supports multiple inheritance using syntax close to AT&T's. (Actually, it doesn't even have to be that solid!) Please let me know: (1) What is the current version of g++? (2) What is the compatibility level of the current version with AT&T's versions 1.2, 2.0, and 2.1? With the draft ANSI standard? (3) Is multiple inheritance supported in the current g++? What is the level of compatibility with AT&T (in syntax -- I'm mainly interested in the parser)? (4) Will any defined future versions substantially change any of these answers? Can you say anything about when? Thanks for your attention to these questions, and thanks for your ongoing efforts in support of free software! - Mike Orr, Bainbridge Island, Washington
