hr propagation forecast bulletin nr 12  from arrl headquarters

solar flux information was not available in the 24 hours prior to
preparation of this bulletin, but visual observation of the sun
indicated that flux values are continuing a gradual rise that began
march 14.  the flux was estimated at 127 on the 20th, and a peak of
about 140 is expected by march 27.  the flux average for march 20 to
31 is expected to be above the 123 used in preparing the propagation
charts in qst for march.

geomagnetic activity was at intermediate levels and propagation waso
fair to good through the 18th.  it was higher, and conditions were
degraded, march 19 and 20.  propagation will remain below par through
the 21st, but will improve thereafter, becoming good march 26 and 27.
the month will close with erratic conditions carrying through april
2.  communications over high latitude paths will be affected most
adversely.  transequatorial circuits may be enhanced, particularly on
28 and 50 mhz, the latter having been open to south america during
march, especially from the southern tier of states.
