Steve Smoliar complains about the tendency to use the word "learning" to refer to a hodgepodge of unrelated mechanisms. Quite so, Steve; there is no such *one* thing as learning. Instead, the term seems to be a blanket one which covers several dozen (or several hundred) mechanisms for coding a behavior change based on experience.
