Apologies for the lack of attributions on the last two posts.  The article
that starts with quoted material "What does it mean for an arbitrary Turing
Machine..." is a response to Drew McDermott.  The article that starts with
quoted material "There is indeed a specific oversight..." is a response to
Torkel Franzen.  I'm posting from an unfamiliar system as the usual system
is down.  (It also seems to be having problems with propagation delays.)
