#N:whuxlb:6200001:000:700 whuxlb!mkg May 8 00:06:00 1983 While watching the cartoons this morning, I was suprised and pleased to see CBS news do one of their "In the News" spots on ham-radio. They couldn't say much in 60 seconds but they touched upon public service (showing shots of a ham in Hawaii next to the lava flow with an HT), the Dayton hamfest (a shot of your 'typical' hamfest visitor decked out with radio gear), talked about AMSAT and the station that Garriott will bring on his future shuttle flight, and a brief but adequate description of the hobby while showing somebody making contacts from Dayton. All in all, it was an oustanding display of ham radio. If only we could get more publicity like that!!! Marsh Gosnell AD2H whuxlb!mkg
