Official AMSAT P3B Bulletin #005 0300 UTC 7 June 83 TO: QST FM: AMSAT HQ RLSD: K1HTV A spokesperson from the Washington offices of the European Space Agency said that a Telex received from their Paris headquarters on Monday June 6th indicated that the Ariane LO6 launch campaign continues on schedule. The main payload, ECS-1, is scheduled to be put in place on top the Sylda, in which the AMSAT Phase 3-B spacecraft is now enclosed. Testing of the European Communications Satellite will take place at the Kourou launch site this Wednesday followed by the assembling of the ferring on Thursday the 9th of June. Next comes the turpo pump lubrication procedure followed by the calibration of the inertial guidance system on Saturday. If all goes well, there will be a launch rehearsal Monday June 13. The launch readiness review and the arming of the launcher paylaod are both planned for Tuesday the 14th. The countdown procedure will begin on the 15th, with liftoff of the ECS-1 and Phase III-B spacecraft now scheduled for 11:59 UTC on Thursday June the sixteenth (16th).
