I am looking for comments about SGML-based documentation tools to run under ULTRIX. We are currently using DWB (ditroff), but would like to migrate to SGML within a year. We need something that supports: Many writers Working on large technical manuals that are part of Large documentations sets that go through Multiple revisions. We need good support for graphics and tables, and flexibility to design our own document formats. We also need support for translation from English to other languages. Revision control for documents, handling of editor's and reviewers' comments, and other utitlities such as spell checking are also important. It must run under ULTRIX on a DEC RISC workstation or a VAX or both. We are currently evaluating Publisher from ArborText, and have also considered Author/Editor from SoftQuad. We have looked a a few others, but I don't recall their names. I would especially like comments on user interface issues (ease of learning, ease of use), and support issues (does company provide good support, how hard/easy is it for internal support group to support). I am also interested in hearing from others who have converted from troff to SGML or who are planning to make the conversion.
