qst de ad7i hr arrl bulletin nr 42 from arrl headquarters newington ct june 8, 1983 to all radio amateurs bt amsat oscar 8 is in an emergency low voltage battery condition and the transponders are not to be used. the satellite battery has not been able to hold a charge after several days of recharge. the satellite is in mode a and the telemetry is hung up with readings of 180 252 324 496 568 696. if anyone reads any other variation, please contact arrl hq. observations so far indicate that oscar 8 is following the same battery failure pattern as oscar 7. if this present condition continues the satellite will only be heard when it is in sunlight. oscar 8 is in a minimum sunlight period at the present time but it is expected to gradually increase its exposure so that the battery charging time will be increased. any status change will be announced on w1aw ar
