[net.followup] US Computer on Criminals...Feasible

goutal (10/30/82)

Whatever happened to NCIC, the National Crime Information Center?
I thot that was already in operation, and that it was just such a computer-
ized database as this article described. Not true?
Then there's the LEAA (Law Enforcement Assistance Act) system in Boston
for the commonwealth of Massachusetts.
For completeness, I suppose, I should point out that various local police
organizations (town, county) have computerized databases these days.

I know that NCIC (National Crime Information Computer, I think) is not
a network per se, but links to it (terminal) are possible and they do
exist, even in small communities like Manchester, NH and Freeport, NY.
Ask a policeperson friend about it. Have him look up another friend
but don't abuse it.
