I just received some new product literature from Regency
Electronics, Inc. (Indianapolis, IN) describing their new
scanner product line. Some new scanners of interest are:
o+ HX3000 - Handheld 20 channel synthesized scanner that
covers 25 mHz through 550 mHz continuously. This
includes CB, 10 meters, 220 mHz, military aircraft band
(300 mHz range), TV audio, FM broadcast, etc. The
modes included are AM, wide band FM, and narrow band
FM. A priority channel is included. This scanner uses
5 AA batteries.
o+ HX1000 - Handheld 20 channel synthesized scanner cover-
ing 6 bands. This scanner has a priority channel
feature and is rated at 2 watts of audio output! The
display is LCD. It looks like it's built into a 2
meter handie-talkie case, with a die-cast aluminum
frame. It's powered from NiCd batteries and uses a
lithium battery for memory retention.
o+ MX7000 - 20 channel base/mobile scanner with coverage
from 25 mHz to 1.2 gHz! Modes are AM, wide band FM,
and narrow band FM. The display is blue/green vacuum
fluorescent. I think the list price for this is about
$599.
There were 4 other new scanners announced which were of a
more traditional nature. One looks like a table radio. Two
new crystal controlled handhelds were also announced.
Apparently, Regency is the only company remaining that
manufactures scanners in the USA. Bearcat scanners are now
made overseas. Are there any other scanner enthusiasts out
there?
