       According to information	printed	in the July/August issue of
       "Monitoring  Times"  (vol  2,  no.  4,  published  by  Grove
       Enterprises,   Brasstown,   NC	28902),	  Electra   Company
       demonstrated  the  following  new  scanners  at	the  summer
       Consumer	Electronics Show (CES) in Chicago:

	  o+ BASE - BC-151 synthesized 16 channel  for  30-50,  138-
	    174,   406-512   mHz.    Features:	vacuum	fluorescent
	    readout, delay, lockout. List: $250.  (Looks  like	the
	    same  plastic  cabinetry  used  on	the  recent  BC-200
	    scanner.   Nice  to	 have  coverage	  of   the   secret
	    government and military frequencies	between	406 and	420
	    mHz.)

	  o+ MOBILE - BC-260 synthesized	 10  channel  mobile  unit,
	    with  all  metal cabinet and mounting bracket.  3 watts
	    audio  output!    Features:	  Memory   backup,   vacuum
	    fluorescent	  display   with   dim	 switch,   electro-
	    luminescent	 keyboard  backlighting,  audible   "chirp"
	    keyboard   feedback,  priority,  weather  key  (nice!),
	    search, lockout.  Cost: $400. (Low profile cabinet with
	    front mounted controls ... a new breed from	Bearcat.)

	  o+ PORTABLE - handheld	BC-5/6 crystal controlled 6 channel
	    unit.   Features:  low,  high, aircraft, and UHF bands,
	    300	 mw.   audio   output,	 individual   LED   channel
	    indicators,	  scan	 delay,	  lockout,  BNC	 terminated
	    flexible antenna, belt clip.  Comes	with AC	adapter	and
	    NiCd  batteries.   Cost:  $180.  (Nice  to	see  a	BNC
	    connector on a handheld scanner!)
