b I stayed up all last night (aug 17-18) listening to the hurricane net on 20 meters (14.325 usb). It was fascinating. I heard of other frequencies carrying info on the hurricane (40 and 75 mtrs) but could not pull in anything on any of them. At any rate the two apparent net controllers K1WW (east) and esp. N7YL (west) were doing great stuff. The question is: I discovered this only by accident, listening to a local 2-meter net (one of the participants mentioned it and i rushed over and turned on the lf rig). Supposing that I hadn't heard this, where else might I have found it out? Obviously the emergency was sort of an immediate thing, and the net could not have been scheduled in advance. Or perhaps there are allocated frequencies that everyone (almost everyone..) knows about? Mark E. Mallett KA1KES decvax!sii!mem
