Subj: STS-9/W5LFL info

Following is info on STS-9/W5LFL received from W5RRR this PM:

W5LFL will be operational on a total of eight orbits (out of
a mission total of 145). Only three of these will serve the
continental U.S.

The following ascending node EQX info is based on a liftoff
at OCT28 1630UTC

Orbit 39 OCT 31 0103:42 UTC 241.50 W (The midwest's only chance)
      40 OCT 31 0233:04 264.20 (For the west coast)
      47 OCT 31 1258:35 063.70
      63 NOV 1 1247:56 066.11
      64 NOV 1 1417:15 088.80
      77 NOV 2 0938:16 023.69
      79 NOV 2 1236:51 069.05
      80 NOV 2 1406:09 091.73 (For the east coast)

W5LFL will NOT be active during these entire passes, standby for
last minute scheduling. However, he WILL be active to provide
continental U.S. QSOs at the right times on orbits 39, 40 and 80.

Nodal period: 89.40 minutes
Long. Increment: 22.71 degrees/orbit
Average height: 249.5 Km
Inclination: 57 degrees

Keplerian elements ( which have been checked through orbit 39
for reasonable accuracy using the W3IWI program )

EPOCH 1983 Day 302 1746:44.89 UTC
INCLINATION 57.0248 degrees
RAAN 178.60498 degrees
ECCENTRICITY 0.00083
ARG. of PERIGEE 001.86848 degrees
MEAN ANOMOLY 358.13682
MEAN MOTION 16.07142857 orbits per day
DRAG 0.030 (...a biggee!!)

SMA 6633.118215

These elements are for orbit 18. A nominal mission would include
only very minor maneuvering burns between orbits 18 and 80 which
means these elements may be useable without update ( assuming
another FIRST CLASS NASA job ).

That is (hopefully) all....
