You're talking about the MX7000 Regency scanner, list price about $600. I spoke with Regency yesterday (10-12-83), and was told that this model would be shipped to dealers during the summer of 1984. I think the dealers have been given an earlier date, so it's ambiguous at this point. Discount scanner dealers include: o+ Gaxaly Electronics, Box 1202, Akron, OH 44309, (216)376-2402 o+ Communications Electronics, 818 Phoenix, Box 1002, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48106, (800)973-8888 o+ Scanner World, USA, 10 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208, (518)436-9606 Unfortunately, the specifications sheet for the MX7000 does not specify continuous frequency coverage. Its limited 20 channel capacity may prove insufficient for programming in all the frequencies in a large 800 MHz trunked system, or cellular mobile telephone frequencies. An editorial on the MX7000 appears in the October 1983 issue of the Radio Communications Monitoring Association (RCMA) Newsletter. Several years back, Bearcat introduced an 800 MHz scanner, but it was removed from the market due to technical problems. -- ============================================================================ Robert S.
