[net.ham-radio] Dentron power supply comment

I just purchased the Dentron power supply listed in the new AES
catalog. This is the supply that was used to power the Dentron
transciever. It was a $129 unit now being sold for $39.

The specs are not too clear in the ad. The regulated output
is only good for 2 amps. The high current output is unregulated
and puts out 17.5 volts unloaded and drops to about 13 or so
with a 16 amp load. The transformer is supposed to be rated
for 20 amps. Unfortunately, there is little room to add heat
sinks large enough to permit regularing the high current output
without mounting them on top of the cabinet.
I guess it is still worth the sale price, but not what I expected.
