[comp.unix.xenix.sco] rlogin ok, but rcmd, no

tkevans@oss670.UUCP (Tim Evans) (09/11/90)

This is a question about SCO's TCP/IP, release 1.0.1h, running under
Xenix 2.3.2.

After having set up /etc/hosts and /etc/hosts.equiv according to
TFM, and added users to /etc/passwd, all intended to set up a totally
open local environment, I find that users can 'rlogin' with no
trouble, but get permission denied messages from 'rcmd' (SCO's
name for the Berkeley 'rsh' command).

Is anyone experiencing this problem? Do you have solutions? Or
ideas to try?

THANKS.
