I currently have literature for the SunRiver terminals as well as for the UnTerminal from Advance Micro Research. Currently I have never used either but would like to get EGA or VGA capability on two of my Xenix machines a long ways from the console (200-300 feet). The literature for these items claims that they can give me this capability but I'd like to get peoples experiences with these units. 1. If you've seen/used both, how would you compare them? 2. What is the performance like on the terminals (graphics and text) compared to standard serial terminals? Compared to the console? 3. How compatible are these new adapters with the CGI stuff that comes with Xenix? 4. Do they use interrupts? What all is involved in the installation (any confusing/difficult parts?) 5. What is your general impression of the equipment? Are they reliable, is the keyboard key for key compatible with the console?? Do you get multiscreens? 6. How much does one of these terminals (non-terminals) degrade the system. They claim they don't but graphics HAS to degrade the system more than text. I guess they mean it doesn't degrade the system more than the console would? 7. How many of these things could one put on a system? 8. Can I continue to use the Multi-port cards I have now in COMBINATION with 1-2 of these? Any suggestions are welcome. If I get significant response I will summarize to the net.
