Can someone please point out the best approach/procedure to add and/or replace a hard drive on a 80286 based Xenix box? Here are some of the issues that concern us : - What needs to be done in order to [i] tell /unix that a new drive exists, and [ii] it is at a non-conflicting interrupt? - Do we [i] run 'dd' to move the files from the old drive to the new drive, or [ii] do we simply reload the files from a cartridge tape drive? - If the new drive is to co-exist with the old one, how do we specify and re-build the /u partition on it? In other words, what is the best way to add devices without having to re-install the system. Please send e-mail directly to uunet!ats!dipto or dipto%ats@uunet.uu.net if possible. Since this procedure has become a show-stopper a prompt reply from a Xenix gure will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- dipto@umbc.bitnet -----\ /----- uunet!ats!dipto dipto@umbc3.umbc.edu ------> In-real-life: <------ +1 301 384 1425 dipto%ats@uunet.uu.net ----/ Dipto Chakravarty \----- CMSC, U. of MD.
