[comp.unix.xenix.sco] Cron Stops Running

mel@fleet.UUCP (mel) (02/25/91)

I am having an occassional stopage of cron. It seems like it happens about
every 2 to 3 months.  I'm running Xenix Version 2.3.3GT on a Hewlett-Packard
486 based 25 meg.hrtz. CPU with a 310 meg. disk drive.  I also have 10 megs of
memory.

I'm aware of the old problem cron had and kept the old fix in the root cron
file as follows;

1 * * * * /bin/true

I never had this problem on my old HP 386 based CPU running 2.3.2 Xenix. I
wonder if it's due to a bug in the EISA bus chips or the 486 itself.

If anyone has any ideas how I can track the cause and/or apply some type of
background program to keep cron running I'd appreciate their e-mailing a
solution to my following address. Thanks for any assistance in advance.
