[comp.unix.xenix.sco] Xenix on NEC Powermate

pking@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu (02/28/91)

We have a brand new NEC Powermate SX/20. I have been
trying to install Xenix on it for days...
With no luck. It is a 386 and we are using the 386 version.
The install hangs during the Filesystem Diskette (N2).
It never goes out and reads or writes to the hard drive.
The hard drive does work, I've reformatted it a couple of
times and can install DOS on it. I called SCO but they
didn't have any answers. This is an ESDI hard drive, with
a Western Digital Controller board, the controller is a model
1007V.... This particular model of NEC was not in the release
notes, but so far everyone I've talked to says, it should
work... OK, well it doesn't!!! Does anyone out there have
any ideas??? By the way, I have used three different sets
of diskettes so it isn't that I have a bad diskette.

Thanks.
