I have an AST 386/25 and I tried to install the 387 cooprocessor, but it seems that the SCO UNIX does not like it! It panics at random moments (probably because of some signal) and it cannot boot. Has anybody installed the 387 cooprocessor with SCO UNIX V? Does is works? Were there any problems? Any reply (possitive or negative :-) will be highly appreciated, since it will allow me to track the problem (maybe the 387 that I have is broken!) thanks for the help :-) dimitri -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Dimitri Konstantas | UUCP : mcvax!cernvax!cui!dimitri Centre Universitaire d'Informatique | EARN : dimitri@cgeuge51.bitnet University of Geneva | EAN : dimitri@cui.unige.ch 12 rue du Lac | Tel. : +41 (22) 787-6586 CH-1207 Geneva,SUISE | Fax. : +41 (22) 735-3905 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Were there any problems? Tons of people have '387s in their machines running sco *nix. kithrup recently got a '387 clone, and is doing fine. A coworker recently had a similar problem, and my response was: does the machine boot DOS? Does the machine recognize the fpu during boot time (*before* unix boots, that is)? It's possible some of the motherboard jumpers and switches are not configured properly, which could cause problems. -- Sean Eric Fagan | "I made the universe, but please don't blame me for it; sef@kithrup.COM | I had a bellyache at the time." -----------------+ -- The Turtle (Stephen King, _It_) Any opinions expressed are my own, and generally unpopular with others.

Here at PEM all maschines are running with SCO UNIX 3.2.2 and there no problem with the CO. But during the installation we alweays make the same mistakte. We forgett to enable the CO on the motherboard, so the kernal will panic. After setting a new jumper configuration on the motherboard everything is well. So have a look on your motherboard, wether there is a single jumper for the CO. Try the other constelation . Hope this helps Tillmann -- basien@PEM-Stuttgart.de Dipl.-Ing. Tillmann A.
