I have a client that has a Toshiba T5100 laptop with SCO Xenix 386 2.3.2 on it. He leaves his system on a lot of the time and is concerned about the plasma screen it has. There is no way to really turn off the screen except via keyboard commands. Under DOS, you switch the screen off (to use the external CRT port), by pressing <fn> <END>, and back on with <fn> <HOME>. Under SCO Xenix, these key sequences don't work, possibly because the keyboard is mapped differently. I suspect that the <fn> sequences might outport some sort of control codes that the system picks up and causes the screen to switch back and forth My call to Toshiba went unrewarded as they didn't understand why the function codes wouldn't work (One tech even suggested that I use DOS to switch the screen back and forth :-) Anyone out there know how to accomplish this under SCO Xenix, or perhaps another Unix? -- Kevin W.
