[comp.unix.xenix.sco] Uncompressing SLS files

dhmadsen@icaen.uiowa.edu (Donald H Madsen) (03/26/91)

I downloaded compressed files from ftp.uu.net/sco-archive/SLS.

When an attempt is made to uncompress the files the following error
message is given: "compressed with 16 bits, can only handle 12 bits"

The compress in use is the one supplied with Xenix 2.3.3
Suggestions will be appreciated.

On the UnixForum of Compuserve, there's source for Compress 4.3d, which
handles 16-bit compression in *nix, DOS, and OS-2.
