[comp.unix.xenix.sco] xenix unhappy with MSGSEG set to 8192 ?

ronald@robobar.co.uk (Ronald S H Khoo) (03/28/91)

I've left the other params defaulted, and just upped MSGSEG to
8192, and msgsnd() now just hangs (or returns EAGAIN if IPC_NOWAIT
is true). It's OK at 8001 or 9216 but just seems to dislike 8192.

Are there any known problems with Xenix's message queue code ?
Any positive info on how best to avoid them (like good magic values
to tune to) ?

[ I'm on 2.3.2 (AT) + xnx155b, but I'd like to know about problems with 2.2.1
too (386, that is) -- some of our sites at 2.2.1 (with default tuning) seem
to have their message queues get stuck in a similar way on an irregular but
frequent basis. I'd previously blamed our code, written long before I
arrived, I hasten to add, but with this problem arising, I've begun to
  wonder ... ]
