[comp.unix.xenix.sco] VPIX comm port problem

mel@fleet.UUCP (mel) (06/02/91)

I cannot get the comm port to run under vpix. The problem has something to
do with ownership or permissions of my /dev/ttyF07 (modem port) on my
Computone ALC card."uucp" is the owner/group of the port. It seems that
every time uucp is run the permissions & ownership change to those needed
by uucp, but then VPIX can't acces that port on bootup.

Has anyone else had this problem a found a solution to it?

The only thing I found had to be done on our system (386 with
Digiboard & SCO XENIX 2.3.3) was to make sure the port that COMM1
was mapped to in VP/ix was disabled before VP/ix was booted.

I don't recall the error message given by VP/ix if the port was
enabled, but disabling the port solved it.
