[comp.unix.xenix.sco] SLIP Speeds SCO

->Speed on SLIP Lines. If I had two unix machines and wanted to run
->SLIP between them, could I run at 56K speed? What would be the negatives
->to it. In other words, the async ports would have to be able to run at
->56K, who makes multi port cards capable of 56K? I am curious about the
->pros and cons of this. Please email me your responces on this and let
->me know if anyone is doing it now.

Yes and No. The standard SLIP driver doesn't seem to know about any speed
in excess of extb or 38400.

But some serial boards such as Digi's will fib a little and map the low
baud rates such as 50baud ( real useful eh?) to 56k. I have in fact used
this and found that the extra throughput was surprisingly muchly better than
38400. Actually, I was surprised it worked at all.
