[comp.unix.xenix.sco] Unfragmenting Utility for SCO Unix

root@swatty.UUCP (Larry Krone) (06/13/91)

Is SCO Unix subject to disk fragmentation??? I have some files
that are taking abnormally long to get to.....

If so, does anybody know of a good disk unfragmenting utility
for SCO Unix....

Thanx,

If my mbox file is representative, fragmentation isn't too bad.
The file is 3.5 MB and a wc -v on it took 11.36 seconds real
time. That's 315 kcps. A cp to /dev/null takes about 7.56
seconds, for 472 kb/second. This is with a Wren IV, which gets
about 1100 on Coretest. All in all, not bad for a file which
should be about as fragmented as any.
